Defying the Odds: Sustainability in Small and Rural Places is a 2013 report on rural communities that, despite their small size, “defy the odds” by implementing progressive sustainability policies. All seven examples of these “unlikely innovators” highlighted in the report are in the US but the lessons are universal.
